Bayer East Africa have developed two products, which they say can effectively control the Maize Lethal Necrosis Disease.
The two products, Gaucho and Imadaclopid, will be released to the market before the end of the year said John Kanyingi, the Head of Marketing in the Crop Science Division at Bayer.
Gaucho is used to treat seeds for protecting crops against aphids attack at a younger stage.
“Aphids commonly attack maize at an early stage, but if the seeds are dressed , they are well protected,” Kanyingi explained.
Erick Bureau, the managing director Bayer East Africa, said it took three years to develop and register the products.
The two products are awaiting regulatory approval before market release
